Why Start a Spiritual Blog?

I’m by no means an expert. I just want to start there. I have not read all the books or watched all the documentaries or even talked to more than a handful of knowledgeable people.

But, over the years, things have happened to me that I cannot explain. I’ve known things without knowing how I know them, I’ve had dreams that came true, I’ve found that I’m able to absorb the emotional energy of others and even that I can manipulate that same energy, if I so choose. I’ve had messages from people who have passed on, I’ve felt presences.

And every single bit of it scared the living crap out of me.

I was raised Catholic. I mean, confirmed in the Church, went to mass every Sunday, youth group every Wednesday, Catholic. And along with that came a certain amount of fear for the things in our world that can’t be explained.

But eventually, the things that I couldn’t explain kept happening to me. And at a certain point, I could no longer chalk things up to coincidence. So when the Great Big Thing™ happened, and I couldn’t bury my head in the sand anymore, I turned to the internet.

And let me tell you, that was HARD GOING at first. It was difficult for me to go to a website that talked about being an empath in one sentence and then continued on about witchcraft in the next.

It scared me, to be quite honest. Witchcraft? That’s not what I signed up for! I just sometimes have feelings that turn out to be right!

Then, when I was in college, I had a birthday party and a man showed up that no one really knew. He was a Wiccan, and gave me a ring as a birthday gift. He was then promptly kicked out of the house, not because he did anything inappropriate, but because the fact that he was a Wiccan sent a ripple of fear throughout all the other guests in attendance.

It would take me years to find my own spiritual path, and in that time, the memory of the man with the ring would sometimes come back to me and fill me with guilt. If only I had been more educated, I could have been less ignorant and close minded. So now I’m doing my part to demystify the different and unknown.

There’s a lot of misconceptions out there regarding paganism and polytheism in general, but let me tell you. Even if you are a devout, practicing Christian, there is a place for you in the world of off the beaten path spiritual beliefs. You don’t have to be a pagan to want to know about crystals and their uses or what the wheel of the year represents. You don’t have to be afraid of discovering new things, it doesn’t make your relationship with your chosen deity any less meaningful.

So. Why did I start a spiritual blog? First and foremost, for myself to have a space to talk about the things I find interesting. But also, I hope to impart some of the knowledge I’ve searched for to others who are perhaps seeking the same answers. Or if they are just curious and want to know about some interesting stuff, that’s cool, too.

So stick around and grab some sage, cuz we’re about to get REAL weird up in this bitch!

XOXO
